Paying tribute to Antoine de Saint-Exup¨¦ry’s last flight
70 years ago, Antoine de Saint-Exup¨¦ry piloted a plane which flew across France and never made it back. Now IWC launched three special edition watches paying homage to this pilot as well as writer. In addition, a platinum special edition will be sold and the revenue will be donated to the support Antoine de Saint-Exup¨¦ry charity.

On July 31th, 1944, Antoine de Saint-Exup¨¦ry piloted a reconnaissance plane to carried out his mission on the France air and he never expected that this flight will be the last flight of his career. After taking off from an airbase in France, the P-38 combat plane went missing. Back then, the plane is old and the space is tight for the big Antoine de Saint-Exup¨¦ry, but he insisted on his mission and took off to carried out its mission. In the Toulon in France, he was hit by German air force. Until 1998, a fisherman find the wrap band of this French hero, his missiong was able to be revealed. Soon after that, people find fragments from the ocean and those were confirmed to be the plane that Antoine de Saint-Exup¨¦ry piloted. The German pilot never knows that it is his favorite writer that he hit.
In the November, a Pilot Last Flight Platinum Special Edition will be auctioned in Geneva. IWC will donate this money to the Antoine de Saint-Exup¨¦ry charity as it always does to spread the humanitarian idea of this Frenchman and dedicate to popularize knowledge to illiterate in the world. With the donation from IWC, the Little Prince hospital in Curitiba, the biggest hospital in Brazil, has a library and inspired kids to learn more and conduct meaningful activities. Components from the special editions are made either titanium, or platinum and all of them has a limited number.
